Helen set up her photography business in 2003, having finished a degree in medieval history at the University of Cambridge. She has gone on to become one of the most accomplished and respected family photographers in the UK.
The key kit that the pros use to take their photographs
"The focus is spot-on and the weather sealing means I don't have to worry about the inevitable sand, bubble liquid and sticky fingers."
Whatever you shoot, however you shoot it, the EOS R5 will let you be creative in ways you simply couldn't before. "Fast autofocus with incredible eye and face tracking, great ISO capabilities and a high-definition EVF viewfinder make picture taking a joy and help me to produce stunning and unique images for my clients," says Helen.
A professional-quality standard zoom that offers outstanding image quality. Helen says: "A fast aperture allows me to work indoors and the zoom means I can cover all my bases without needing to change lens – particularly useful on a windy day at the beach."
A prime lens for supreme sharpness, plus remarkable low-light performance. "Without a doubt the most astonishing lens I've ever used. It's quick as lightning and astonishingly sharp but still has a very beautiful look to the pictures."
A fast-aperture 35mm f/1.8 macro lens for wide-angle perspective, close focusing and Hybrid IS. "This lens is small and fast and perfect for storytelling. I also love its macro facility and the ability to come in close for a detail and then step back for a wide shot is brilliant when I'm photographing children."
A professional grade wide-angle lens with a natural perspective, an f/1.4 aperture and low light capabilities. "Although I use this lens less in a session, perhaps 30% of the time, I often take some of my favourite images with it. It's a storytelling lens."
Discover portrait perfection with an exceptional telephoto lens. "For the majority of my work I shoot with two cameras and I use the 85/35mm combination of lenses. I love the 85mm for portraits."
Helen says she loves this customisable mount adapter because of its usefulness in controlling her ISO. "Enabling me to use my EF lenses on my Canon EOS R5, this is an essential piece of kit," she says.
"I use fast and reliable memory cards to give me maximum speed and efficiency when photographing families," says Helen.
"Anyone who works with children will know the power of a biscuit. We have a brilliant time and use a lot of energy playing games and running around so snacks are an all-important part of any photo shoot."
"My photo shoots are entirely child-led – we play the games they want to play and we will often include their favourite toys in pictures, whether that's a wooden train, a teddy bear or even a paper tube or a cardboard box."
